The spark that started the culinary fire for me came at an odd time. I was recovering on the couch from a rumpus New Years Eve in 2001 and found an Iron Chef Japan marathon on television. I had never seen people cook with such intensity and speed and I was hooked (on cooking shows at least) and couldn't get enough. I decided to attend culinary school in 2002 and quickly realized that I was born to cook. I already had strong roots in entertaining guests from the countless dinner parties my grandparents would host but now I had a way to feed them!
After working my way through some of the best kitchens in the Bay Area (Boulevard, Spruce, etc...) with a short stint at Scharffen Berger Chocolate Factory to round out my skills I started Spencers Pantry. I started off slow but got such joy out of being so close to the guests as they ate. I could describe each dish and teach while I put them together. I have a blast at every dinner I do, setting up in no time, doing my thing and leaving your kitchen like nothing ever happened. If you would like to host a dinner party and not have to worry about anything but opening the wine then please contact me.
